Our private lodge accommodates up to 8 hunters with 4 bedrooms and 8 beds. We structure our hunts around group size to make sure every hunter gets the most out of their time in the field. Contact us to discuss your group and we'll make sure the setup is right.

We welcome both solo hunters and groups. Reach out directly and we'll work with you to find the right setup — whether that's joining an existing group or booking your own private hunt window.

The Hunt

Our primary targets are Canada geese and ducks — primarily mallards, but we pursue whatever the birds are doing. Our hunts take place in fields, small water, dry flats, and river settings depending on conditions and what the scouting shows us.

Montana daily bag limits per hunter are:

  • 5 Canada Geese per day
  • 6 Ducks per day

These are among the most generous limits in the country — one of many reasons serious waterfowlers make the trip out here.

We run A-frames, layout blinds, and backboards depending on where we're hunting and what conditions call for. All blinds and decoys are provided — you don't need to bring anything from a field equipment standpoint.

Our guides are out scouting every evening while you're back at the lodge. By the time you wake up the next morning, we've already found where the birds are feeding and set up the plan. Every morning you'll receive a Google or Apple Maps pin for the exact hunting location and a meet time.

Three reasons. First, location — southeast Montana is as far north as you can get before the Canadian border, which means we see birds early and consistently throughout the season. Second, private land access — we operate on thousands of acres of exclusive, privately leased ground so we control pressure entirely. No public hunting pressure means birds aren't bumped or educated. Third, experience — our guides have spent 10+ years learning these flyways, feeds, and patterns. We know when and where to be.

Bird processing is included in all packages. The trophy and meat exchange takes place the last evening before departure — hunters are responsible for taking their bird meat home. Bring a cooler for this purpose. If you leave your birds behind, a processing fee will be assessed to the group.

Travel & Getting Here

Fly into Billings Logan International Airport (BIL). It has direct flights from most major US cities and is the closest airport to our hunting area. Book flights at flybillings.com. Plan to arrive the evening before your first hunt and depart the morning after your final hunt.

Rent a vehicle at the Billings airport — we recommend a truck or SUV. The drive to our lodge is approximately 45 minutes. A lodge address and pin will be sent to your group prior to arrival. Car rental contacts at Billings airport:

  • Enterprise — (406) 294-2930
  • Budget — (406) 259-4168
  • Avis — (406) 252-8007

Yes — firearms can be checked as baggage on most airlines when properly declared and packed in a hard-sided locked case. Check your specific airline's firearm policy before traveling. Ammunition must be checked separately and follow airline regulations. If you'd prefer not to fly with shells, Cabela's in Billings is a great stop on the way to the lodge.

We operate across thousands of acres of privately leased land in southeast Montana. Exact hunting locations vary by day based on scouting — you'll receive a Google or Apple Maps pin each evening for the next morning's hunt. This keeps us agile and always hunting where the birds are.

Lodging

Our private lodge sits in the heart of our southeast Montana hunting grounds. It's a fully equipped 5-bedroom, 2-bathroom lodge with 8 beds. Everything your group needs for a comfortable stay is provided. It's your home base for the duration of the hunt.

Meals are not included in the packages. The lodge is fully equipped so you're welcome to cook. There are grocery options nearby and restaurants in town. We recommend picking up groceries in Billings on your way in.

Plan to arrive at the lodge the evening before your first hunt. Our team will meet you there to go over the plan for the next morning. After your final hunt, you'll check out and head to the airport. The bird and trophy exchange happens the last evening before departure so you're ready to go in the morning.

Licensing

To legally hunt waterfowl in Montana as a non-resident you'll need all four of the following:

  • Federal Migratory Bird Stamp
  • Montana Migratory Bird License
  • Montana Conservation License
  • Montana Base Hunting License

Purchase all licenses online through Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) before your trip. We'll also send you a licensing checklist after booking.

All hunters must have valid licenses on their person at all times while on the property. Hunting without proper licensing is a violation of state and federal law.

All licenses can be purchased online through the Montana FWP portal. We strongly recommend doing this well before your trip — don't wait until you're at the airport.

Yes. All hunters are required to have their valid licenses and signed hunt waiver on their person at all times while on the property. We'll provide the waiver prior to arrival — make sure it's signed and ready before your first hunt.

  • Valid hunting licenses and stamps
  • Waterproof outer layers and boots
  • Wool and synthetic base layers
  • Wool and normal socks

December and January in our part of Montana are cold — plan for daily highs in the mid-to-upper 30s°F and overnight lows in the teens to low 20s°F. December is typically the coldest month. January can be windy with frequent snowfall. Check the forecast before arriving and dress accordingly.

Bring whatever shotgun you're most comfortable shooting. For waterfowl in Montana, non-toxic shot is required by federal law — steel, bismuth, or tungsten loads are all legal options. 12-gauge is most common. If you're unsure, reach out and we're happy to advise based on what we're hunting.
